MINDFULNESS, COMPASSION AND WISDOM
The three core areas of spiritual practice are mindfulness, compassion and wisdom. In other words cultivating attentional, emotional and cognitive balance as a basis for achieving mental balance and well-being.
In Buddhism these are often referred to as shamatha, compassion and vipashyana practice.
Over a series of five weekend retreats we will be focusing on these three core areas of practice.
Beginning with cultivating mindfulness over two weekends using the two classic approaches of mindfulness of breathing and observing the mind.
This will be followed by a weekend focusing on cultivating the positive qualities such as loving-kindness and compassion.
