We are very happy to announce that the Spiritual Director & co-founder of FPMT, (and most of our teachers root guru) Lama Thubten Zopa Rinpoche, will be visiting Denmark and giving the Great Medicine Buddha initiation on Friday 24thand Saturday 25th of July 2015. We are looking very much forward to seeing you for this very special event!
About the practice and initiation
“The seven Medicine Buddhas, attainers of bliss, strongly prayed for the temporal and ultimate happiness of yourself and all sentient beings. They vowed that their prayers would be actualized during these degenerate times when the teachings of Shakyamuni Buddha are in decline. As the buddhas’ holy speech is irrevocable, you can wholly trust in their power to quickly grant blessings to help all sentient beings in these degenerate times. If you pray to Guru Medicine Buddha, you will quickly accomplish all that you wish. Just hearing the holy name of Guru Medicine Buddha and the sound of his mantra closes the door to rebirth in the suffering lower realms. It is written in the scriptures that you should not have a two-pointed mind (doubt) with regard to these benefits.”

This Great Initiation into the practice of Medicine Buddha is a kriya yoga tantric initiation and requires participants to have taken refuge in the Buddha, Dharma and Sangha. If you have not taken refuge yet, but would like to do so it will be possible before the initiation to take refuge with Lama Zopa Rinpoche.
Part of the initiation will also be to take the Bodhisattva Vows and Rinpoche also usually gives a small commitment, such as a daily recitation of the Medicine Buddhas’ names and mantra. You can read more about refuge and bodhisattva vows below.
