We will train our attention and concentration through guided exercises while standing, sitting, walking, lying down, and doing yoga. The beautiful natural surroundings and the presence of the group will support us in the process of letting go of stressful attitudes and connecting with the natural clarity of our minds. As a couterpart to these waking activities, Jetthe Fabiola, trained dream mentor, will provide opportunities for us to bring look into our somatic experience through one-on-one  dreamwork sessions.

Compassion
Compassion is a fundamental principle in Buddhism. It is a powerful quality that we all possess. During the retreat, Stephan Pende will give talks and guide meditations to help us connect with and develop a warm, open heart for the benefit of ourselves and those that touch our lives.

Movement
Yoga and walking meditation cultivate awareness and concentration and support the physical side of our sitting practice. Exercises will be very gentle, and will combine movement, breathing and body-mind awareness. They will be held both inside and outside by certified yoga teacher: Elena Mironov.

Details

We will stay at a holiday camp in a beautiful natural area by the coast near Asnæs. Look here!

There will be short and longer periods of silence, and from Monday to Wednesday we will intensify our practice by taking the 8 Mahayana Precepts, which are guidelines for behaving harmlessly and help us cultivate positive states of mind. On these days, lunch will be the only meal. On the rest of the days, three vegetarian meals will be served, and coffee/tea will be available throughout all days. The teaching, exercises and guided meditations will be given in easy-to-understand English.

No prior experience in meditation, dreamwork or hiking is necessary.

Meditation is an invitation to slow down and shift from the doing mode to the being mode.To allow yourself to be in a place without pressure supported by the guidance of the course leaders and the presence of the group. Together we are resting in the very nature of your being, in what is sometimes called the natural state, original mind, pure awareness, no mind, or simply emptiness.

Dreams are a significant part of our lives. As an honest and precise mirror of our inner and social life, they reflect how we relate to ourselves and others. This sacred mirror provide spiritual blessings, visions, and guidance. Even when dreams appear in the form of nightmares they are opportunities for personal and spiritual growth. Dreams are an expression of our unconscious intelligence. Pointing to imbalances, to pain and problems, but always also to resources, often even to solutions. This problem-solving aspect of dreams may more clearly be appreciated by looking at series of dreams. And this is possible in the week retreat.

Walking gives you the opportunity to rediscover the value of silence and a most simple way of living during daily walks in the amazing landscape of Iceland. Walking and just being there with nature. Having space for deep contemplation and connecting with your innermost essence.
